Lightweight, with a gas-sipping 2.4 liter four cylinder engine and six-speed transmission, the Acura TSX is probably one of the most economical cars on the road for its size. By using the right Acura TSX parts, it should continue to operate at peak efficiency for as long as you own it.
One of the Acura parts that are generally taken for granted is the air filter. It’s small and inexpensive, but if neglected, can cost plenty in terms of fuel economy. After three to eight thousand miles, enough dirt will clog any air filter to affect the amount of oxygen entering the fuel system. When less air is available, more fuel is consumed. This is normal when the engine is cold (it was the purpose of the old choke knob), but in order for your Acura to operate efficiently, it needs a leaner mixture at operating temperature. Other Acura TSX parts that affect fuel economy are the oxygen sensor and the fuel injectors themselves. The oxygen, or O2 sensor measures the amount of oxygen in the exhaust gases and sends an electronic signal to the fuel injectors, which then adjust the ratio of fuel to air accordingly. Discount Acura parts are fine to use as long as they of sufficient quality, but beware “bargain brands,” as these will cost you more in the long term. A good rule of thumb is to use OEM Acura TSX parts whenever possible for the best results and the greatest durability.
