The VW community is one of the largest enthusiast groups amongst America’s automotive circles. With so many performance and power adding manufacturers making their way through these circles, the Genuine VW/Audi brand at times gets lost in the shuffle. Don’t be fooled however, as many of the dealer-only replacement parts are still your best option for long-term use and efficiency. From the Genuine door seals that can crack and separate through the seasons, down to the pads and rotors that regulate your ride’s stopping distance, Genuine is always your best bet when it comes to replacing the exact same part that was intended.
Genuine VW Audi Clutch Pressure Plate Bolt
If your VW/Audi vehicle has a manual transmission, whether it’s an old 4-speed from the 1970s or a modern high tech 6-speed, it will have a pressure plate inside that clutch assembly. When engaged, this pressure plate clamps the clutch friction disc to the engine flywheel transmitting the engine rotation to the transmission input shaft. When you press on the clutch pedal a series of springs pulls the pressure plate back essentially disconnecting the engine from the transmission allowing you to change gears.
The outside of the pressure plate assembly must be securely mounted to the flywheel to perform its functions. These clutch pressure plate bolts are not typically torque-to-yield or stretch bolts but compared to the cost of a clutch kit adding Genuine VW/Audi clutch pressure plate bolts to your job is a cheap insurance policy. A new set of bolts ensures that you won’t have any issues and the pressure plate will be securely mounted for many more years of service. Be sure to get that flywheel resurfaced as well if you are replacing the clutch.
Genuine VW Audi Timing Chain Guide Rail
For many years VW/Audi used timing belts on their engines which performed well and lasted. But as engines became more complex and engineered for maximum performance at peak efficiency the timing function has gone back to using timing chains on most engines now. The timing chain(s) connects the crankshaft to the camshaft(s) so that the valvetrain above operates in sync with the crankshaft below.
To keep the timing chain at the correct tension there is a timing chain tensioner somewhere along its path as well as a series of timing chain guides or rails. Whenever you need service on your timing chain it will likely take considerable time and labor to get to it, so replacing all of the chain guides with Genuine VW/Audi timing chain guide/rails is a must. These should always be replaced when the timing chain and tensioner are replaced because a new chain at the proper tension may crack old worn out chain guides quickly. What will cost you an extra $50 now, will save hundreds in labor later.
Genuin VW Audi Radiator Coolant Hose Flange
Your VW or Audi vehicle uses a coolant system to keep engine temperatures at their optimum level so your engine can perform at its best and last for a long time. That coolant system has a radiator to pass hot coolant through to be cooled by incoming outside air passing over the radiator coils. The radiator then sends this cooler temperature coolant back to the engine through the water pump and a series of hoses and connections.
One of these coolant hose connections can usually be found at the front top of the engine. A VW/Audi radiator coolant hose flange is attached to the engine and a hose connects it either directly or indirectly to the top of the radiator. The radiator coolant hose flanges on older models may be metal which will corrode over time and need replacing. But on most modern engines the flanges have been made out of plastic materials and will dry out and crack with age so will also need replacing at some point. Most radiator coolant hose flanges are fairly easy to get to and not very expensive so if you are replacing the radiator hose(s) you should consider replacing any and all these flanges with the Genuine offered. A new VW/Audi radiator coolant hose flange will ensure your cooling system can keep performing at its best.
