Scion is a Toyota marque with an interesting, if brief history. It was developed in 2002 to appeal to the “Generation Y” buyers as an entry-level brand (similar to the Ford Motor Company’s Mercury or GMC Pontiac brands back in the 1950’s and 60’s). Scion was available throughout the country only in 2004, so even if you bought one of the first ones, your Scion is still practically new.
Nonetheless, there are many Scion parts that are required for scheduled maintenance tasks if you plan to keep that vehicle running at its best. Hopefully, you have kept the oil changed and the grease fittings serviced every three or four months. However, have you checked that air filter? This is one of the least expensive Scion parts you can buy, but a dirty air filter will cost you plenty at the gas pump; if this is not changed, your Scion could be wasting as much as 5% of its gas. You should also be looking at the hoses and belts, which typically wear out after three or four years. You may not need them yet, but discount Scion parts such as these are items that are good to have on hand. In fact, according to the American Automobile Association, cooling system failures are responsible for as much as 90% of all roadside breakdowns. Carry some spare Scion parts such as hoses, belts and even a fuel injector, and you’ll be ready for nearly any mechanical problem you might encounter.
