While an E21 is an uncommon sight in the 2020s, it was a status symbol in the mid 70s. The E21 was the first generation of the 3 series compact cars, replacing the BMW 02 series. The E21 was only available in a 2-door sedan, unless you opted for the convertible option. This BMW introduced a very forward thinking safety feature, it offered driver and passenger the benefit of an angled dashboard and all surfaces had rounded or padded corners. The most discerning of the models available in the E21 series was the BMW 315. This was originally introduced to be an economical offering by the German auto manufacturer. Estimates suggest there are fewer than 100,000 remaining on the road today. Unfortunately for the owners of the E21 series, the parts are almost as rare as the cars themselves.
