The BMW 745i first appeared in 2001. It is a member of the fourth generation of BMW E65 7 Series luxury vehicles. The BMW E65 7 Series deviated from typical BMW exterior styling, and many believe that the aggressive styling enabled the 7 Series to look stylish even after several years. However, the BMW 745i, like most vehicles, has its share of issues and problems. Some BMW 745i drivers have commonly reported issues, such as radiator failures, engine overheating, and sudden tire pressure loss.
The “Ultimate Driving Machine” will last substantially longer when properly maintained, which means using quality BMW parts as needed. Certain parts should be changed every few months, while other BMW 745i parts will last as long as ten years and 100,000 miles. Regardless of the BMW parts involved, proper care will allow your vehicle to last almost indefinitely.
Oil filters are the most frequently replaced BMW 745i parts. Since the engine lubricant tends to wear out fairly quickly, you should change it every 3,000 miles. Since up to a quart of old, dirty oil remains in the filter and can contaminate clean oil, it should be discarded. Once a year or every 10-12,000 miles, you should replace discount BMW 745i parts such as the air filter and wiper blades. The next BMW 745i parts that will wear out are rubber and rubberized parts such as the hoses and belts. Over time, exposure to engine heat causes the rubber to deteriorate; these BMW parts should be inspected regularly and replaced at least every 50,000 miles or three to five years. By the time your odometer hits 100,000 miles, some suspension components will be ready for retirement, as well as the alternator, water pump, and starter motor. The control arm, which holds suspension components in place that are installed beneath the shocks, is usually worn out by this point and can create a real safety hazard if not switched out with a new unit. Taking care of these details as needed will considerably extend your vehicle’s life.
