The Audi A3 is nearly 25 years old, and in that quarter-century, you could argue no other car has changed its genre as much as Audi's compact hatchback. When Audi's hatchback launched in 1996, the A3 quickly established itself as a highly desirable vehicle. It was based on the same platform that the Mk4 Volkswagen Golf would use when it arrived later that same year and was initially available only as a three-door hatchback. A five-door model came in 1999. Having been unveiled at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show, the 3rd iteration of the popular German hatchback reached the market later that same year. The third generation Audi A3 was, for the first time, available as both a three and five door model at launch and in 2013, Audi added a Saloon body style to the A3 lineup too, giving buyers a new option in the small executive saloon sector. Audi has sold more than four million A3s worldwide since it was introduced in the mid-90s, and this latest model promises to take the popular hatchback to the next level. In response to the buying habits of customers over recent years, Audi is no longer offering a three-door variant of the A3, with the fourth-generation model being available as a five door Sportback model only to begin with, and a saloon version shortly after.
The 2023 Audi A3 packs a lot of premium content into its compact four door body, and it also features spry handling and strong performance. As the entry point to the Audi brand, the A3 distills much of the lineup's tech focused ethos into a smaller, less expensive package. It is a desirable choice among its entry luxury rivals that include the Acura Integra and the BMW 2 series Gran Coupe. The A3's cabin is snug but is outfitted with a large infotainment display and a digital gauge cluster, among other luxury and convenience features. A 201-hp turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder is standard, and Audi's Quattro all-wheel-drive system is optional. The average annual maintenance cost of an Audi A3 is $741. Repair and maintenance costs vary depending on age, mileage, location, and shop. A lack of power may be noted, and the check engine light illuminated with various throttle system fault codes stored. This is generally caused by electrical connection issues at the throttle body. If this is the case, a harness repair kit is available from our Genuine Audi parts source. An engine misfire may develop from one or more cylinders resulting in a loss of power and illumination of the check engine light. Ignition coil failure is a common cause for this concern. On high mileage vehicles it may be wise to consider replacing all the ignition coils if one fails to try and avoid future misfire issues on another cylinder. Also, 2.0L turbo charged engines may develop a hesitation on acceleration and/or illumination of the check engine light due to a failed high pressure fuel pump or a worn camshaft follower or camshaft. Whenever the high-pressure fuel pump is replaced the camshaft and the follower should be checked for wear. The camshaft lobe pushes on the follower to operate the high-pressure fuel pump. Frequent oil changes and use of synthetic oil may help with this wear issue. No matter what Audi A3 parts you need for your next repair job, AutohausAZ has you covered.
