BMW flex disc typically cost between $8.29 and $124.99.
A BMW flex disc (also known as the giubo) is a vibration dampener mounted on the transmission's back side. The flex disc acts as a buffer between the output shaft of the transmission and the driveshaft leading back to the car's differential. A flex disc uses nothing more than a block of rubber and several metal bolthole reinforcements to achieve the same effect as a mechanical link, which would require all sorts of complicated features to achieve the same effect.
The only way to tell if the disc is beginning to wear is through visual inspection. Cars with worn discs will experience a harsh vibration when starting from a stop, and the disc (along with the center support bearing) should be replaced as soon as possible. The signs of a failing giubo can be varied. However, the most common symptoms will be vibrations and, occasionally, clunking noises coming from underneath the car. As a flex disc ages, it loses flexibility and thus its ability to absorb vibrations. It doesn't take long to notice the difference inside the passenger cabin.
