  • The A/C refrigerant pressure sensor on your Mercedes is a failsafe sensor that prevents catastrophic failure of your Mercedes’ A/C system when refrigerant pressure becomes too high or too low.
  • When A/C refrigerant pressure is too low, it is a sign that there is a refrigerant leak and the sensor tells the A/C system to shut off, preventing the compressor from overheating due to a lack of refrigerant and lubricant. When A/C refrigerant is too high, it is a sign that there is a blockage in the flow of refrigerant or that the system is too full. In either case the sensor shuts down the A/C system to prevent seals and hoses from blowing out.
  • A common failure of the A/C pressure is an open circuit condition that does not allow the sensor to relay A/C refrigerant pressure and will also cause your Mercedes’ A/C system to not function and the climate control unit to register a system fault.
