The lower radiator hose used on the Volvo 2.4L and 2.5L inline five cylinder engine is a five connection radiator hose connecting the radiator to the engine, water pump, thermostat, and expansion tank. Like all other radiator hoses, the lower radiator hose on your Volvo should be inspected at every oil change. If the hose is found to be brittle, crunch when you squeeze it, or is leaking at any of the five connections, the hose should be replaced before it completely fails, dumping all the coolant from your Volvo’s cooling system and leaving your stranded.
