In order for the AC system in your Mercedes to keep you cool on a hot day, the compressor pumps hot gas refrigerant into the condenser where air flows through the condenser. It then removes the heat from the gas refrigerant while it is being compressed into a liquid. That compressed liquid refrigerant then flows through the evaporator on the inside of the passenger compartment where the blower motor pushes air through the evaporator, cooling the air and allowing the refrigerant to expand into a gas absorbing heat. If the AC compressor quits working, no refrigerant will be pumped through the AC system and the only air you will feel will be the hot air being blown in from outside.
