Engine compartment insulation or hood pad is a key piece to seperating the stressful heat of the engine from the polished surface of the hood. Over time, the insulation beguns to separate and deteriorate. Many Porsche owners like to stretch lthe legs of their 911s on the weekends. When the RPM band is tested, it should come as no surprise that the temperature of the engine is also stressed. Luckily, you need only to pop the hood and determine the condition on the insulation.
Left = Driver side and Right = Passenger side.
