The rear air suspension on your BMW X5 and X6 uses inflatable air springs to maintain the ride of your vehicle and give your BMW a smootht ride. When heavy weight is added to the rear of the vehicle, the rear end will sit lower. Sensors on the suspension will recognize that the rear of the vehicle is too low, and an air compressor will inflate the air springs until the rear end is at the correct height again. Once the weight is removed from the vehicle, the rear end will sit too high, and the sensors will tell the compressor to deflate the air springs so that the rear end will lower back to the correct height. If the suspension air compressor fails, the air springs will not inflate properly and can cause a lower than desired ride height and an extremely bumpy ride. This new replacement suspension air compressor from AMK Automotive is an original equipment replacement compressor for the 2007-2013 X5 and 2008-2014 X6 model BMWs.
