The hydraulic engine mounts on your Porsche both support the engine bay and absorb engine vibration. The mounts consist of a two-piece external casing and an internal rubber membrane with two fluid filled reservoirs connected by a series of channels for fluid to flow thourgh. The metal casing attaches to the engine and engine support brace to hold the engine securely in the engine bay during acceleration and stopping while the rubber membrane absorbs the low frequency of this movement transferring to the driver. The fluid held by the rubber membrane reservoirs absorb the high frequency vibrations created by the engine operations such and piston movement and crankshaft rotation. Over time the rubber membrane of the engine mount deteriorates. When this happens, the mount loses its ability to securely support the engine, absorb vibrations, and can even allow the internal fluid to leak out. This engine mount from Febi-Bilstein is a direct replacement engine mount for the right or left side of the engine on the 2005-2013 Porsche 997 chassis 911 models without Dynamic Engine Mounts.
