The turbocharger boost solenoid on your BMW monitors the turbo boost pressure to prevent excessive pressure on the turbocharger. When exhaust pressure spins the turbocharger and the optimum turbocharger boost pressure is created, the turbocharger boost solenoid opens the wastegate allowing exhaust pressure to bypass the turbocharger preventing excess turbocharger boost. If the turbocharger boost solenoid fails, the wastegate can remain open not allowing the turbocharger to spin or the wastegate to remain open causing excess turbocharger boost creating compressor stall and additional strain on the turbocharger bearings. The Pierburg 700887190 turbocharger boost solenoid is an original equipment direct replacement for the 11747548706, 11747595374, and 11747626350 turbocharger boost solenoids found on the 2011 1 Series M, 2008-2010 135i, 2007-2010 335i/is, 2008-2010 535i, 2010-2013 550i, 2012 650i, 2009-2012 750i/Li, 2011-2012 B7, 2011-2013 X5, 2008-2014 X6, and 2009-2016 Z4 models.
