The Porsche 911 is possibly the single most recognizable sports car in the world and is one of the longest produced sports cars having been produced for over 58 years without interruption from 1963 to present. While maintaining similar styling to the original, the 911 has greatly evolved from the first production model pumping out 130hp from a 2.0 boxer engine to the 2019 GT3 producing an astonishing 493hp with a naturally aspirated 4.0 boxer flat six engine. The Porsche 911 turns heads no matter what year or model it happens to be. Part of what has made the 911 such a popular sports car is the use of a boxer style opposed head flat six-cylinder engine in every 911 model produced. These engines are exceptionally balanced, produce very little vibration, and have a low center of gravity allowing the Porsche 911 engine to run more smoothly and produce more power than sports cars with larger V-8 engines. The valve lifters on your Porsche 911 are a hydraulic cylinder that rides along the camshaft to push against the rocker arms to open and close the intake and exhaust valves, and a weak point of the boxer flat six engine. Notorious for sticking due to oil contaminants clogging up, the lifters are prevented from fully opening the engine valves and creating a cylinder misfire.
