The Mercedes M119 V8 engine found in the 1990-1999 Mercedes 400E, 400SEL, 500E, 500SEC, 500SEL, 500SL, CL500, E420, E500, S420, S500, and SL500 models was Mercedes first double overhead cam V8 engine with variable intake valve timing capable of producing 347hp. The Mercedes M119 engine was extremely reliable and smoothly powered Mercedes’ large saloons and sports cars making some of the sought after Mercedes models from the 90s. One prominent problem the M119 V8 engine is the camshaft oil tubes. Made of plastic, the oiler tubes are known for having the end caps being blown out, causing your Mercedes M119 engine to lose oil pressure at higher RPMs when it is needed the most and cause a knocking sound from the cylinder heads. The Rauch & Spiegel 119266 cam oil tubes are anodized aluminum cam oiler tubes designed to replace the original plastic cam oiler tubes used on the Mercedes M119 engine, eliminating the potential of them blowing the end caps and causing oil pressure problems.
