This is located at the bottom of the engine, do not confuse these with the camshaft position sensor. You may also need replacement mount o-ring 12141748398, please order separately.

  • The crankshaft position sensor on your BMW relays crankshaft position to the engine control unit to maintain engine ignition timing.
  • Failure of this part can cause the engine to stall or not start at all.
  • VDO is the original manufacture of the crankshaft position sensors for the BMW N51, N52, N54, N62, S65 and S85 engines.
  • Located at the rear of your BMW’s engine, this sensor is not easily replaced, so be sure to only use the original equipment VDO sensor if yours needs to be replacement to prevent from having to replace it over and over again.
Left = Driver side and Right = Passenger side.
