The front struts on your Mercedes give your front wheels both lateral and vertical stability, provide the wheels a pivot point for turning, all while dampening the driver from the feel of bumps, holes, and any other inconsistencies of the road. Front struts fail when the seals that hold gas pressure inside of the strut become degraded and allow the gases to escape, leaving the strut to be unable to dampen the front suspension, leaving the ride bouncy and unstable.
