The 2019 European Car of the Year

A Look at the Finalists for 2019 European Car of the Year

When you put all your energy and passion into being good at what you do, it’s nice when your efforts are recognized, especially by someone outside your immediate family.

At AutohausAZ, we enjoy being recognized as a top destination worldwide to buy Jaguar parts, BMW parts, Mercedes Benz parts, and Volvo parts online. We also love it when the world’s top car manufacturers get to strut their stuff in the annual awards season.

The 2019 European Car Of The Year has been unveiled. Here are the seven finalists announced after an evaluation of 38 different initial candidates by journalists and the members of the European Car of the Year jury.

Car geek alert! Let’s take a look at these beautiful creations and what makes them so special.

The Finalists:

Alpine A110

Alpine is back! This is a really hot-looking, sporty, lightweight two-seater from the French manufacturer that brought us...yes, the original Alpine A110 back in the 1960s. The update is pretty true to the original design - low to the ground, short, and just about the sleekest little sporty car you can buy for about $60,000 (46,000 pounds.)

Citroen C5 Aircross

Another entry from France. This gorgeous SUV stands out for its killer technologies (19 for driver assistance and six for connectivity), its spacious trunk area space, and luxurious comfort both in the ride and the innovative seat construction.

Ford Focus

Surprised to see this? Definitely not what you would consider a luxury car, but for an affordable, compact option that’s strikingly attractive, fun to drive and with a high level of comfort and reliability, the 2018 Ford Focus has received rave reviews.

Jaguar I-Pace

Introducing Jaguar’s first all-electric SUV, with a battery range of 240 miles. A really cool feature, other than being able to drive it with a single pedal, is the new InControl Touch Pro Duo “infotainment” system with a pair of touchscreens. This car is truly state of the art.

Kia Ceed

A step up in style and quality for Kia, which has made significant upgrades to the Ceed model, a hatchback SUV that has been a really strong seller. You can tell the difference in the quality of the interior fixtures, which once were crafted out of plastic. In keeping with modern trends, the Ceed comes with a touchscreen infotainment system.

Mercedes Benz A-Class

A little car with a lot to offer. Designed with an aerodynamically efficient front end and extra cabin space, the most impressive part of this car might be the technologically advanced dashboard with MBUX infotainment system that utilizes voice-recognition software and driver-assist features that really raise the bar.

Peugeot 508

This is a car you really have to see to believe. It’s attractiveness almost defies description, inside and out. Featuring frameless doors and windows, the 508 is a family-friendly hatchback with electric lumbar support, massagers in the seats, and a good-looking digital dashboard equipped with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto for maximum comfort and an enjoyable ride.

The Winner: Jaguar I-Pace

2019 European Car of the Year

Jaguar's electric crossover just edged out the Alpine A110. Both scored a total of 250 points, but the I-Pace won the tie breaker by getting more top votes. The Kia Ceed took third with 247 points and the Ford Focus took forth place with 235 points. This may not be the last award in the future of the I-Pace, as it is finalist for world car of the year as well.
