Continental ContiTech is another division of Continental AG and is known worldwide for supplying drive belts to the carmakers as well as to repair shops. Continental AG has been in the rubber product business for over 140 years and they bring that experience to produce superior automotive drive belts. Many leading European carmakers use Conti for the timing belts and serpentine drive belts on their assemblylines. You can be sure that a Continental belt is made to those OEM specifications.
Continental ContiTech Products for your European Car
Many European cars come with Continental serpentine drive belts and you can see their name on them when your engine is not running. But Continental may also have supplied the engine’s timing belt (if so equipped) which is even more critical to the engine’s performance. Continental also offers a variety of drive belt and timing belt kits to put all the essential parts in one box when your car needs any of these kind of repairs. Check the AutohausAZ catalog to see what Continental products we offer for your car.
Continental ContiTech Serpentine Drive Belt
All modern cars now use what is referred to as a serpentine belt rather than the old V-belt from years ago. The serpentine belt is much easier to maintain a constant tension by use of a tensioner and the belt can run all or nearly all of your engine’s rotating accessories. It normally will drive the power steering pump, the alternator, and the AC compressor although some engines may use a separate belt for the compressor. Continental belts are marked with an easy to read sizing where for example a 6K2635 belt would have 6 ribs or channels in width and 2635mm overall belt length.
Continental ContiTech Timing Belt
Your car’s engine uses either a timing chain or timing belt to connect the camshaft(s) with the crankshaft. As the crankshaft rotates the timing belt turns the camshaft which opens the valves at the correct time during the combustion process. Over time the timing belt will wear like any belt and require replacement. If your engine uses a timing belt there is a recommended replacement mileage in your owner’s manual which needs to be followed. Continental timing belts are original factory equipment on many European cars and all have the correct tooth size and angle for your car. You can count on Continental for your next timing belt replacement.
Continental ContiTech Serpentine Belt Drive Component Kit
Whenever you replace your serpentine belt it is highly recommended that the belt idler pulley(s) and tensioner be replaced as well. ContiTech belt drive component kits include all the recommended belt drive parts that should be replaced during a service. Using a complete Continental kit will ensure you have years more driving before the belt system may need service again. Check out the AutohausAZ catalog to see if Continental offers a serpentine belt drive component kit for your specific model and engine.
