GKN Product Line
The GKN product line (also branded as GKN/Loebro) includes many of the critical parts to your car’s driveline. Depending on your model these may be CV joints, CV joint boot kits, complete CV axle assemblies, or universal joints (u-joints) and driveshafts for your rear wheel drive car. Since most of the GKN listings are original replacements these will be exactly the same as what came on your car from the factory. Though these repairs are inevitable, having an OE part at an affordable cost makes it a one-time repair without the hassles and worries of aftermarket rebuilt parts that never last.
GKN CV Joints
The most critical part in your front wheel drive (and even some rear wheel drive) axles is the CV joint connecting the axle to the wheel. The CV joint (constant velocity joint) allows the wheels to move up and down as well as turning while the axle can continue to drive the wheels. The GKN CV joint that you may need to repair your car will have the exact same attaching threads or splines as the original so you’re not wrestling with it to install it. Many new joints are available in a kit form which also then includes a new CV joint boot, straps, and even a packet of special CV joint grease. Keeping that new CV joint greased properly is crucial to a long service life and years of happy motoring.
GKN CV Axle Assemblies
On many modern cars with CV axles the CV joints are not easily removable from the axle so a complete axle assembly is the way to go. GKN Driveshaft U-Joints
If you’ve got a rear wheel drive car with a driveshaft connecting the transmission to the rear axle you may also have a u-joint at the front and/or rear of that driveshaft. These universal joints allow the driveshaft to move up and down with the car as the suspension absorbs road changes. Over time these u-joints will wear and as they are out in the elements they can get damaged. Replacing your worn or damaged u-joints with new GKN u-joints will get you back on the road in no time.
