The clutch on your Volvo 850 is responsible for transferring all the engine’s power to the transmission. A pressure spring loaded plate holds a friction disc for the engine’s flywheel. The rotating power from the engine is then transferred from the friction disc to the transmission’s input shaft, turning the transmission. Every time the clutch pedal is engaged, a bearing pushes against the pressure plate releasing the friction disc from the flywheel and disengaging the transmission allowing you to shift. In time, the friction disc will lose its ability to hold the connection between the engine and transmission and will begin to slip and inevitably engine power will not be transferred to the transmission. The Sachs K7011001 clutch kit is an original equipment replacement clutch kit for your 1995-1997 Volvo 850 with manual transmission, containing a new friction disc, pressure plate and release bearing.
