The Mercedes W113 SL is truly a classic European sport car. Produced by Mercedes from 1963 through 1971, the W113 was built with a powerful inline six-cylinder engine, lightweight aluminum body, and a short and wide wheelbase which gave the W113 SL superb performance and handling compared to other sport cars of its time. Part of the W113 SL’s superior handling came from stiffer front shocks that help hold the W133Sl to the road while in a tight corner. Overtime, seals on the front shocks degrade allowing pressurized gas inside the shocks to leak out, leaving the shocks unable to hold the front to the road. When this happens, only replacing the front shocks will bring back the stability your W113 SL is supposed to have.
    Whether your car is older with the traditional hydraulic shocks or newer with an electronically controlled suspension with shock absorbers, Bilstein offers replacement shocks to fit your car. The old bounce test worked on traditional shocks back in the ‘80s and earlier but modern suspension systems even when worn out will not bounce much when you push down on the fender. But if your car has lost that precise feel when cornering or doesn’t absorb road imperfections well anymore then it’s time to get your shock absorbers checked and replaced. The Bilstein shock absorbers are built to bolt right in to your factory mount locations and offer all the latest technologies available to fit your specific model.
