The brake calipers on your Volvo S60 are responsible for clamping the brake pads to the brake discs, slowing your Volvo to a stop. When the brake pedal is pressed, the brake master cylinder builds hydraulic pressure in the brake system, forcing the caliper piston against the inner pad and pulling in the outer pad to clamp the pads on the brake disc. Deteriorated seals in the caliper can cause the calipers to leak brake fluid and rust caused by moisture from the road and in the air can cause the calipers to seize. In both cases, the caliper is rendered unable to clamp the pads to the brake discs and needs to be replaced. The Pro-Parts 51431382 brake caliper is a new replacement brake caliper for the rear left Volvo brake caliper part number 3601382 found on the 2011-2018 S60, 2007-2016 S80, 2015-2018 V60, 2008-2010 V70, and 2008-2016 XC70 models with solid rear discs.
