In 1975 Porsche marketed the first turbocharged 960 Carrera. The large rear spoiler featured on the 960 was anecdotally called a "Whale Tail." While the Carrera name disappeared in the early 80s, it was resurrected in 1984 with the 911 3.2 Carrera. The 3.2 Carrera abandoned the large spoiler in favor of a smaller design.
